Anheuser-Busch settles claim it used deceptive packaging for Beck's

Posted online
Anheuser-Busch InBev, which makes Beck's beer, has settled a Florida man's complaint that the beer carries deceptive labeling.

Filed in 2013 in Florida federal court, the lawsuit claimed Anheuser-Busch used deceptive phrases like "Originated in Germany" and "Germany Quality" to sell Beck's at a higher price than other domestics, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

While Beck's was made in Germany for over 225 years, it is now brewed with water from Missouri.

Under the terms of the settlement, Anheuser-Busch will clearly make visible labeling stating Beck's is made in the U.S. Drinkers of the beer since May 2011 also could get a partial refund if they kept their receipts.
