Angels release Pujols in final year of record contract

The Los Angeles Angels are releasing Albert Pujols from a record contract.

Pujols, 41, is in his final playing year of a 10-year, $240-million contract. He accepted the contract after helping the St. Louis Cardinals win the 2011 World Series.

Pujols appears open to exploring options with other teams, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
