Andy’s to open three new Chicago-area stores

Posted online
Andy’s Frozen Custard is preparing summer openings for three Chicago-area stores, part of plans to double its presence in the market.

The Springfield dessert chain is scheduled to launch an Oswego store in June, followed the next month by a location each in Naperville and Mount Prospect, said Donna Scherner, the company’s spokeswoman in the Chicago market.

Scherner said each of the corporate-owned stores would employ 15 to 20 full- and part-time workers.

Andy’s currently operates five Chicago-area shops and is seeking sites for others to open by year’s end.

“We’re hoping to double our size in the Chicago market by this time next year,” Scherner said.

In Springfield, Andy’s is targeting a July opening for its sixth store in the city, a 25-employee location at 3820 S. Glenstone Ave.

The company also plans to bump employment to 20 from 13 when it moves its headquarters this fall to a three-story building down the street from its current office.

Andy’s, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last month, has a goal of opening 75 stores by the end of 2017.
