Phoenix Home Care & Hospice Expands Private Duty Care with New Partnerships

Posted online

At Phoenix Home Care & Hospice, Private Duty Care has always been about helping people maintain independence and dignity at home.

From two hours of light housekeeping each week to round-the-clock personal care, this service remains one of the most flexible options for clients across Missouri, Kansas and Illinois.

“Private Duty Care meets people where they are,” says Greg Kelley, Senior Vice President of Operations. “We provide everything from companionship and transportation to personal care, cooking and respite for family caregivers.”

In 2025, Phoenix has taken its Private Duty Care service to a new level through affiliations with the Medicare GUIDE program for dementia care and The Helper Bees network of personal care providers. Both partnerships expand in-home support for families who might otherwise struggle to afford access.

New Support for Dementia Clients and Caregivers

GUIDE (which stands for “Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience”) is a nationwide pilot for patients with traditional Medicare. As a contractor with the GUIDE program, Phoenix offers structured caregiving support to people living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

Participants are paired with a dementia care navigator and receive respite hours, caregiver education, and coordinated access to medical and community resources.

“This program opens a funding source that didn’t exist before,” Kelley explains. “It relieves the burden on primary caregivers while ensuring their loved one gets the same quality care as our private pay clients.”

Partnering for Better Access to Care

Phoenix has also joined The Helper Bees, a national aging-in-place network that connects qualified providers with health plans like Aetna and Humana. Through this partnership, eligible Medicare Advantage members may receive up to 100 hours of approved in-home assistance each year, ranging from personal care and housekeeping to meal prep and post-hospital support.

“Contracting with these programs allows us to provide care that otherwise wouldn’t be delivered,” Kelley says. “It’s another way we’re expanding our capacity to serve even more clients.”

Continuing the Phoenix Mission

Founded on Christ-like values of compassion and honesty, Phoenix Home Care & Hospice continues to grow with the same purpose that inspired its beginning: to bring meaningful opportunities to caregivers and a helping hand to the clients they serve.
