America's favorite credit card company is...

Actually, this year it's a tie. American Express, the country's most popular card for the past seven years, is now sharing the podium with Discover.
 
Both of the top-rated credit card companies got high marks for customer service from 20,000 customers surveyed by J.D. Power, with a score of 819 out of 1,000. The survey asked customers to rate their card issuers in areas including terms and conditions, billing and payment policies, rewards programs and customer interaction. The average score for the top 10 credit card companies was 778, up from 767 in 2013.
 
CNNMoney credits the average-score increase to riches in rewards programs. Card issuers have improved the programs to entice customers to cancel their current cards in favor of theirs, the report states.
