While fewer people are celebrating the holiday, Americans are still expected to spend a record amount on Valentine's Day this year.
A survey by the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics found the average American would spend $161.96, above the previous record of $146.84 in 2016.
Total spending is expected to reach $20.7 billion, above the previous record of $19.7 billion in 2016.
