American Airlines CEO Doug Parker is confident about the state of his company. So much so, that he declared the company will continue its profitability in the long term.
"I don't think we're ever going to lose money again," Parker said at a meeting with analysts and reporters yesterday. "We have an industry that's going to be profitable in good and bad times."
American’s cumulative profit was $1 billion 1978-2013. For the last four years, the airline will have earned $19.2 billion in pretax income, Parker said.
Even if the company has bad years, Parker said the airline should still earn $3 billion in profits before taxes.
