American Airlines beats Q4 expectations

American Airlines' shares rose 1 percent in premarket trading Friday after the company announced it beat fourth-quarter earnings expectations.

Still, net income dropped to $475 million, or 92 cents per share, from $1.3 billion, or $2 per share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.48, above the FactSet consensus of 92 cents.

Revenue moved up to $9.8 billion from $9.6 billion a year earlier.
