The Missouri Public Service Commission this week approved an electric rate increase request from Ameren Missouri.
The company intends to raise rates on its 1.2 million customers, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
In the St. Louis area, typical residential electrical bills are expected to rise by about 12%.
