Ameren is donating $4 million to be used for customer bill payment assistance.
The money is being funneled through community action agencies in Missouri and Illinois.
Joe Solari, vice president of customer experience for Ameren, said in a statement that the utility understands "the economic hardships families living in our communities are facing each day.”
