Ameren Corp. has completed a $5.5 million electric vehicle charging system at its St. Louis headquarters.
Officials with the company say the charging platform is “a first in the U.S.," with the use of the electric grid, stationary advanced lead-acid batteries and solar panels, as well as energy-efficiency technology.
“By demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of electrifying fleet vehicles, Ameren aims to inspire commercial and institutional fleet vehicle owners and operators to embrace cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions," Alex Rojas, director of innovation implementation and strategy at Ameren Services, told the St. Louis Business Journal.
