Semiconductor designer AMD agreed to buy Xilinx in a $35 billion all-stock deal.
Expected to close at the end of 2021, the deal would create a combined company with 13,000 engineers.
Both companies have been working to expand in the data center space through processors that help speed up certain tasks.
