AMC Entertainment’s stock surged by as much as 40% yesterday on rumors that Amazon was considering a buyout of the movie theater chain.
Shares rose on an unconfirmed report in British tabloid the Daily Mail.
Deadline later reported there were no talks between AMC and Amazon. Officials with both companies did not return requests for comment when contacted by Quartz.
