AMC has deal to buy Europe's largest theater operator

Leawood, Kan.-based AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. has a definitive agreement on the table to purchase the largest theater chain in Europe.

The $1.2 billion deal for Odeon & UCI Cinemas Group is with private equity firm Terral Firma.

Yesterday, AMC acknowledged its $1.1 billion bid for Carmike Cinemas Inc. is at risk because of shareholder demands for a higher price.
