Seattle-based online retailer Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is working with the Missouri Job Center to hire hundreds of employees for the company's developments underway in Republic and Springfield.
Amazon plans to hire around 500 full-time employees for its 1.3 million-square-foot distribution and fulfillment center in Republic. At a former Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co. building in Springfield, Amazon is looking for hundreds of employees for an “AMXL” delivery station, according to past reporting.
The Job Center initially planned Feb. 23-24 hiring events at its 2900 E. Sunshine St. office, but it later announced appointments had filled up. More job postings for the Republic center are slated to be posted in the future.
Starting pay is $15 per hour for the Amazon jobs. Amazon’s job website shows local positions open in human resources, information technology and operations.
In Republic, Amazon is targeting an August opening for its distribution center at 3200 E. Sawyer Road, just south of James River Freeway and Route MM. A notice of intent for a Missouri Enhanced Enterprise Zone shows an estimated real property investment for the building of $25 million, according to past reporting.
At 2960 N. Martin Ave. in Springfield, Amazon is planning a March opening for the nearly 85,000-square-foot center.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
