Amazon plans to hire more than 1,500 employees for its $200 million distribution center in the Charlotte, North Carolina, region.
The city's governing body voted Monday to approve $13.4 million in road infrastructure reimbursements. It also agreed to sell 90 acres of land to CF Hippolyta Charlotte LLC, which is affiliated with New York-based global investment firm Fortress Investment Group.
By number of jobs, Amazon's plans represent the largest economic development move so far this year for the Charlotte area.
