Amazon announced on Wednesday it would hire 1,500 employees at its new 855,000-square-foot fulfillment center in Salt Lake City.
The full-time positions will be hourly associate jobs that will pack and ship smaller items, such as toys, books and electronics.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert said in a statement the new facility will be a “significant economic driver to attract new high-paying jobs and diversify our economy."
The company announced last week it has filed for a patent for beehive-like towers that could allow the company to begin using delivery drones by providing a space for them to take off and land.
