Amazon to cut prices when it closes on Whole Foods buyout

Posted online

Amazon plans to cut prices at Whole Foods Market when it finalizes the purchase Monday, The Associated Press reports.

Customers will find lower prices on items including bananas, eggs, salmon and beef. The company also wants to give Amazon Prime members special savings and other in-store benefits.

Some Whole Foods products also will become available on Amazon.com, AmazonFresh, Prime Pantry and Prime Now.

After Amazon sold $16 billion in bonds to pay for Whole Foods earlier this month, the Federal Trade Commission said it wouldn’t block the deal this week. The deal is valued at $13.7 billion.
