Amazon testing drone delivery service

Posted online
In the not-too-distant future, Amazon deliveries could come by air directly to your doorstep.

The online retailer unveiled plans on Sunday for its Prime Air, which would use unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones that are similar to toy helicopters, to deliver packages, according to CNNMoney.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said in an interview on 60 Minutes that the drones would be ready to take flight in four to five years. An Amazon spokesperson, however, said the "octocopters" could be ready as soon as 2015 after an FAA rule change.

"I know this looks like science fiction. It's not," Bezos said in a CBS interview. "It drops the package. You come and get your package and we can do half-hour deliveries."
