Amazon shares cross $1,000 threshold

Amazon.com shares sold for $1,000 for the first time on Tuesday.

During the past two years, the company's share price has doubled.

Google parent company Alphabet Inc. also is nearing the $1,000 mark. Its shares closed at $996.17 yesterday.
