Amazon, Postal Service gear up to launch Sunday delivery in St. Louis

Amazon is working with the St. Louis-area division of the U.S. Postal Service to roll out Sunday delivery in the region, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The partnership is expected to begin delivering by March 16.

Packages will be delivered from about 15 hubs in the St. Louis region, with a goal of 12 parcels delivered per carrier per hour, reports the Post-Dispatch.

New employees will be hired to handle the Sunday routes.

Amazon has implemented Sunday delivery in the New York and Los Angeles metro areas. Other areas Amazon has targeted for Sunday delivery include Dallas, Houston and New Orleans.

The estimated volume for the St. Louis area is more than 7,000 packages per Sunday.
