Amazon plans Chicago sort center with 500 jobs

Amazon is opening a Chicago-area sort center and hiring up to 500 people.

The company's first Illinois hub for smaller packages is scheduled to launch in October in a 438,150-square-foot building in a Crest Hill industrial park.

Amazon's local employment in the area is approaching 8,000.
