Amazon deploys army of robots in its next-gen warehouses

Online mega-retailer Amazon.com on Monday unveiled its next-generation fulfillment centers, complete with gigantic robotic arms and machines to help prepare customer orders.

According to CNNMoney, the machines should help fulfill orders more quickly and avoid the kind of fiasco the company experienced last year when many orders weren't delivered by Christmas.

Amazon has deployed a total of 15,000 Kiva robots, which look like large orange Roombas. According to the report, the robots pick up and deliver entire warehouse racks to employees.
