Amazon challenges Pentagon contract that went to Microsoft

Amazon announced a formal challenge of the Pentagon's decision to award Microsoft a $10 billion cloud contract.

Officials with Amazon claim the decision was politically motivated to award the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI, contract to Microsoft.

"Numerous aspects of the JEDI evaluation process contained clear deficiencies, errors and unmistakable bias, and it's important that these matters be examined and rectified," a spokesperson for Amazon's cloud business said. "We also believe it's critical for our country that the government and its elected leaders administer procurements objectively and in a manner that is free from political influence."
