Google parent company Alphabet is planning an investment of up to $5 billion in self-driving vehicle technology.
The company is committing the funding to its Waymo unit.
"This new round of funding, which is consistent with recent annual investment levels, will enable Waymo to continue to build the world’s leading autonomous driving technology company," Google CEO Sundar Pichai said.
