Alliance signage goes up at Cox North campus

Posted online

Signage for The Alliance for Healthcare Education has been installed on the Cox North campus, which serves as the home for the nonprofit.

A sign has been added to the Alliance’s main entrance at 1423 N. Jefferson Ave., just south of Division Street.

That sign includes the alliance’s full name, while a higher sign in the middle of the campus says “The Alliance” and includes the logo.

The alliance was formed in late 2023 as a partnership between CoxHealth, Missouri State University, Ozarks Technical Community College and Springfield Public Schools. The3 goal was to create an education pipeline to address the region’s health-related workforce needs.

“Seeing The Alliance name go up was one of those moments that carries the weight of everything it took to get here. But this is much more than a new name on a building,” said Shallina Goodnight, executive director of the Alliance, in a statement. “It represents a bold decision by our founding partners to stop addressing the healthcare workforce challenge separately and build a shared solution together.”

The main entrance signage replaces a longtime sign for Cox College, which is in its final year. Founded in 1907, its programs and space will be absorbed by the Alliance by the end of the 2026-27 academic year.

“This building has a proud history of preparing healthcare professionals. Now, it will bring schools, colleges and healthcare employers together to create earlier, more affordable and more connected pathways for far more students,” Goodnight said in the statement. “The sign is an exciting milestone, but the real impact will be measured by the students who walk through these doors in August and for generations to come.”

A $15 million project to renovate and expand the footprint of the Alliance is in its final stages.

Tina Pham-Morgan, operations director for the Alliance, said during a May board meeting that the cost of the signage would be covered by leftover construction contingency funds.
