Alice Walton, founder of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Ark., is slated to be honored in New York today with the Archives of American Art Medal. The Archives of American Art, which is part of the Smithsonian Institute, is presenting Walton with the award at an annual benefit, according to Arkansas Business.
The medal is designed to honor distinguished members of the American art community, including artists and philanthropists.
Beyond Walton’s work with Crystal Bridges, she is a member of the Trustees’ Council of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and is a member of the board of the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.
