American company RWC had to stop importing Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifles when the United States imposed sanctions against Russia this summer. In fact, RWC isn't allowed to have any contact at all with Russian company Kalashnikov Concern. RWC can't even make a phone call to KC, the CEO of RWC claims.
RWC currently has enough inventory to meet the surging demand for the guns but when supplies run out, "there are no more," RWC CEO Thomas McCrossin told CNNMoney.
So McCrossin has figured out a work-around: He'll just build a factory and make the guns here in the United States. McCrossin hasn't selected a location nor decided how many people he will hire, but he has come up with a new slogan: "Russian heritage - Made in the USA."
