Airport to open consolidated car rental facility this week

Posted online
Springfield-Branson National Airport will celebrate the official opening of its consolidated car rental facility with a July 14 ribbon-cutting event, airport officials announced this morning.

The $6.1 million facility – one of five major capital improvements begun at the airport since 2006 – brings the service centers for all five companies providing on-site vehicle rentals together in one location.

The facility will reduce customer wait times for rental cars, cut operating costs for the rental car companies and generate revenue for the airport, according to a news release. The project was funded entirely by the airport, the release said.

Other capital improvements are the $117 million midfield terminal, which opened in May 2009; a $3 million fuel farm that also opened in May 2009; a $4.5 million airport fire station that opened in August 2009 and a $14.8 million taxiway “whiskey,” set to open in the fall, the release said.

The ribbon-cutting will be held at 10 a.m. July 14 at the consolidated rental car facility.[[In-content Ad]]
