AIA Springfield 2003 Design Award recipient: Meyer Library and Information Center

)()()We were looking for a building that really became a little bit more prominent within our campus.

In the design process we decided to really pull the building up with an additional floor to give it some more height and prominence.

(The addition of a carillon tower) set off the corner of the building and anchored the importance of this building on our campus.

Tom Bergmann was Cannon Designs project architect. Cannon

s architects came up with a system of panels to merge the appearance of Meyer Library, whose exterior is in a warmer tone, with the gray limestone and concrete buildings of the rest of the campus. Th

e new design also improved access for people with disabilities.
