The Heart of America Dairy Expo will be back in Springfield next month.

The Jan. 19-21 event at Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center will feature a handful of national dairy industry speakers. The largest dairy-specific trade show in southern Missouri brought in nearly 500 attendees from 15 states for the 2016 event in the Queen City, according to the release.

“Our program will provide attendees with new directions on dairy nutrition, finance, commodity prices and consumer demand for 2017,” said Ted Sheppard, expo chairman and dairy farmer, in the release.

Opening the fifth-annual event on Jan. 19 will be Gary Sipiorski, dairy development manager for Madison, Wisconsin-based Vita Plus Corp. His topic will be “How did the business of milking get to 2017,” specifically addressing dairy business conditions, interest rates and global competition, according to the release.

On Jan. 20, presenters include Randy Asher of Animal Science Consulting in Brookings, South Dakota; Scott Brown of the University of Missouri Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics; dairy farmer Mike Hutjens of the University of Illinois; and Cindy Sorenson, senior vice president of business development for the Midwest Dairy Association.
