Description: Smith-Goth is the mechanical and electrical engineer for Northstar Battery's 317,500-square-foot manufacturing facility, designed by Marshall-Waters-Woody and Associates Inc. J.S. Smith Consulting Engineers PC is the structural engineer. The building has nine 3,000-amp electrical services, four chillers with 3,000 tons of cooling capacity and a siphonic roof drainage system. The formation department will have an under-floor air-handling system that will flow 375,000 cubic feet per minute and have 1,000 tons of cooling capacity. The project is slated for completion later this year. Equipment installation will continue for a few years as the plant is brought to full production capacity.
