A&E Summer 2009 Project Profile: Hood-Rich Inc.

Description: Hood-Rich Inc. is the civil engineer for sidewalk improvements in the city of Gainesville, funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant. New sidewalks will provide accessibility to nearly all businesses that face the Gainesville square. Smith-Goth Engineers Inc. is the electrical engineer for the project. Landscaped islands, as well as crosswalks, an underground drainage system and street lighting, also are included in the project, which aims to improve traffic patterns and access to parking spaces for those with disabilities. The sidewalk will be extended down Main Street, and there will be a sheltered drop-off/pick-up area for schoolchildren. Completion is anticipated in 2010.
