Adidas entered a deal to sell the Reebok branch to Authentic Brands Group.
The deal is valued at up to $2.5 billion. That's less than the $3.8 billion Adidas paid for Reebok in 2006.
Authentic Brands Group, which last month filed plans to go public, owns brands such as Aeropostale and Forever 21.
