Springfield, MO
As Springfield celebrates its annual Salute to Design & Construction, it is important to remember that the design and construction industry is a service-based business, and that providing professional quality services to our clients is critical to the continued success of the design and construction industry in this region.
As designers we are fortunate to have the opportunity to offer our services to a variety of clients, and our location in the Midwest often allows many of us to work with local clients on projects outside of the region.
Architects, engineers and contractors are hired by owners to provide design and construction services for a variety of building types, and for every client there are different needs to be met and personalities to be understood.
Clients might consist of church building committees, a citizens group formed to develop a city park plan or an individual remodeling a home or business. No matter what the project, the designer must focus his or her attention on meeting the needs of the client's project.
The continued support and enthusiasm for the Salute to Design & Construction is evidence that the professionals in Springfield are providing quality service for their clients. Architects and contractors are accomplishing this by listening to clients, being responsive to their needs and becoming familiar with clients' businesses.
Most clients are not looking for design opportunities, instead they are interested in ways to accommodate another workstation or additional storage space. However, when the architect shows a commitment to meeting the client's basic needs on the project, trust is gained, and the designer can then show the client the design potential of the project.
The annual Salute to Design & Construction is an opportunity to recognize the contributions the industry makes to the area, but we should also remember that we are able to make those contributions because of our clients. As we celebrate this week, remember to thank your clients for their business and their contribution to your success.
