Activision Blizzard to buy Major League Gaming

Activision Blizzard Inc. announced yesterday it signed a deal to buy Major League Gaming as the company seeks to pursue a foothold in the fast-growing business of competitive video games, aka e-sports.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Activision last year launched a new division dedicated to e-sports that sits alongside the company's two publishing units, Blizzard Entertainment and Activision Publishing.

Games published by Activision Blizzard include "Call of Duty," "StarCraft" and "Warcraft." Major League Gaming is known for organizing video game tournaments.
