Activision Blizzard scoops up 'Candy Crush' maker for $5.9B

The top video game publisher in the U.S. is acquiring the creator of mobile game "Candy Crush Saga," King Digital, for $5.9 billion.

Activision Blizzard, the publisher of such popular video games as "Call of Duty" and "Destiny," announced it would spent $18 in cash per share, a 20 percent premium on King's Oct. 30 closing price.

With the purchase, "Candy Crush" would join a lineup that also includes "World of Warcraft," the world's biggest PC game franchise.
