ACLU takes privacy fight to 16 states

The American Civil Liberties Union is taking its privacy fight to the states.

On Wednesday, the group announced it's working with local lawmakers in 16 states, including Missouri, to introduce privacy legislation, including initiatives related to student and employee rights and protection from government surveillance.

“This movement is about seizing control over our lives. Everyone should be empowered to decide who has access to their personal information,” ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero said in a statement.
