"The organization was formed in the mid-1980s in response to the explosive growth of technology and the need to train teachers in its use. We continue to train teachers via the annual conference and by offering 15 to 20 after-school workshops most months of the school year. RCET-(Southwest) provides a forum for tech directors and those involved in the technology field in area member districts to get together periodically to discuss issues and share ideas in education technology," said RCET-SW Director Julie Holloway.
The RCET-SW Board of Directors meets monthly during the school year, Holloway said, adding that the board is comprised of representatives usually the superintendent of each member school.
RCET-SW member schools include Ash Grove, Billings, Branson, Chadwick, Clever, Dallas County, Fair Grove, Fair Play, Forsyth, Halfway, Hollister, Kirbyville, Logan-Rogersville, Mansfield, Marion C. Early, Marshfield, Miller, Nixa, Ozark, Pleasant Hope, Purdy, Reeds Spring, Seymour, Sparta, Springfield Catholic, Springfield R-XII, Strafford, Wheaton, Southwest Missouri State University and Ozarks Technical Community College. Holloway noted though that "Springfield R-XII's membership is on a limited basis due to funding constraints."
