ABC News correspondent teaching College of the Ozarks students

Posted online
College of the Ozarks announced Aug. 30 that ABC News Correspondent Erin Hayes is a member of the faculty for the fall 2010 semester.

Hayes, a 25-year broadcast news worker, is teaching 'Reporting and Newswriting I,' an upper level course in the school's journalism program, according to a C of O news release.

“Ms. Hayes has a vast amount of practical knowledge to share with students,” Marilyn Graves, dean of the college, said in the release. “She will be able to bridge journalism theory and application, which will be most beneficial to them.”

Hayes, who received her bachelor's degree in English in 1976 from C of O, reported on her first broadcast story from the college's radio station, the release said.

She is a correspondent based in the network's southern bureau in Atlanta. Hayes is a three-time recipient of the Edward R. Murrow broadcast journalism award and has received three DuPont Columbia awards, among others, according to ABC News. She is also a former reporter for KY3.

Classes began Aug 23.[[In-content Ad]]
