Anheuser-Busch InBev NV announced today it formally agreed to buy SABMiller PLC for £69.8 billion ($105.5 billion), a deal that would create a brewing behemoth to sell roughly one in three beers worldwide.
As part of the deal, SABMiller agreed to sell full controls of the Miller and Coors brands in the U.S. for $12 billion. Denver-based Molson Coors Brewing Co. will buy the remaining stake in the joint venture dubbed MillerCoors. The deal would make Molson the No. 2 U.S. brewer.
SABMiller has a workforce of close to 70,000 people in more than 80 countries, and global annual sales of over $26 billion. AB InBev has a workforce of 155,000 and global revenues of more than $47 billion.
