Civic leaders discussed revitalization efforts in center city Springfield, pointing to Commercial Street as the next key redevelopment area.
Among the speakers were Missouri State University Vice President of Administration Greg Burris, Springfield Assistant Planner Olivia Hough and Urban Districts Alliance Executive Director Rusty Worley. Chamber President Jim Anderson moderated the talk.
Burris called MSU “the 800-pound gorilla” that every revitalizing downtown needs. Worley said there has been $150 million invested in downtown with another $150 million on the drawing board for the next two years. And assessed valuations downtown have doubled in the past five years.[[In-content Ad]]
