6 Mo. BBQ joints listed among America's 35 Best Ribs

The Daily Meal has ranked America’s best barbecue ribs, and the results illustrate a showdown between Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, Tenn., and the state of Texas.

Missouri and Texas both tallied six BBQ restaurants on the list. Counting Oklahoma Joe’s on the Kansas side, Kansas City is the frontrunner, laying claim to four of America’s top 10 places for ribs.

All this, just in time for the 15th annual Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival at the Ozark Empire Fair Grounds. An officially sanctioned competition by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, the Springfield Rotary clubs are holding the charity fundraiser May 9-10, and admission is $10 at the gate.
