3rd Firehouse Subs to open in Springfield

Firehouse Subs franchisee Jason Pullman signed a lease for space in a retail center that houses Meta-Games Unlimited and Smokin’ Bob’s BBQ.

Bill Beall Co. Chief Operating Officer Nancy Herchenroeder said Pullman signed a lease in the third quarter for 2,486 square feet next door to Meta-Games. Beall Co. serves as leasing agent for the 3309 E. Sunshine St. building owned by the Goodwin Family Partnership. Herchenroeder declined to disclose the lease terms for the space listed on the market at $13.50 per square foot, triple-net.

“They are working on the plans now,” Herchenroeder said, referring further questions to Pullman.

Pullman, who recently opened the city’s first Zaxby’s chicken restaurant just down the road, could not be reached for comment by deadline. He told Springfield Business Journal earlier this year he was nearing a deal for a third Springfield Firehouse Subs.

Pullman opened his first Springfield Firehouse Subs franchise at 4135 S. National Ave. in 2013, followed by a store in 2014 at 401 S. Kimbrough Ave. near Missouri State University. In October 2015, he opened a Firehouse Subs in Joplin.

Allan Reid, co-owner of Meta-Games, said Pullman is preparing to start infill work for the Firehouse Subs. A city building permit dated Sept. 27 points to Pullman’s plans to do infill work and renovate the interior of 3309 E. Sunshine St., Ste. B.

Pullman invested $300,000 to open his first Firehouse Subs on South National. Firehouse Subs’ royalties are 6 percent, and the franchisor charges an advertising fee of 3 percent of sales, according to FirehouseSubs.com.
