The Arkansas Children’s Research Institute is the recipient of a $3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
The funding would be used to explore how so-called forever chemicals impact the development of infants and children.
“By working closely with experts from many fields, our team will find out how PFAS affect children as they grow,” said Aline Andres, a professor in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Department of Pediatrics and associate director of the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center. “Our goal is to find ways to protect children from any potential harm these chemicals could cause.”
