Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt secured the funding in the fiscal 2008 Defense Appropriations Bill.
The funding includes:
• $4.8 million for Nantero Inc., Missouri State University and Jordan Valley Innovation Center to continue development of circuits for space and strategic weapons that can survive a nuclear attack or solar flare;
• $5.6 million for Crosslink Inc., MSU and JVIC to continue research into protective suits that would detect and protect against chemical and biological warfare;
• $4.8 million for Brewer Science Inc., Applied Systems Intelligence Inc., MSU and JVIC to create technology to reset software in satellites that have been affected by solar radiation events;
• $8 million for Gestalt in Joplin to continue to provide computer management for the U.S. military;
• $3.92 million for Eagle Picher Technologies in Joplin to research and develop U.S. Army batteries with higher performance and energy density; and
• $4.8 million for LaBarge Inc. in Joplin to produce wiring harnesses for joint stand-off weapons.
