3 things retirement planners are tracking in Congress

Members of the National Association of Plan Advisors are back from a trip to Washington, and they’ve got three things on their minds.

The Kansas City Business Journal reports the retirement planners’ discussions with Congress centered on tax reform, rollovers and a lack of private retirement savings.

According to a retirement plan services division president from Kansas City who went on the trip, planners are expecting a lot of rule changes, and 401(k)s are front and center. Of concern are limitations of rolling over 401(k) plans and an overall dwindling number of pension plans. According to the business journal, only 50 percent of the U.S. population is covered by a 401(k) plan.
