3 states reach Colorado River deal on water cuts

Arizona, California and Nevada reached a deal to cut water usage from the Colorado River.

The deal would cut at least 3 million acre-feet of water use through 2026. Most of the cuts would be compensated for with federal funds.

The Colorado River system, which provides water to more than 40 million people in the West, has shown an alarming water loss in recent years, officials say.
