3-D bioprinting making strides

Posted online
A team of engineers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital is making strides in fabricating blood vessels using a three-dimensional bioprinting technique.

Creating blood vessels from scratch has long been a critical challenge in tissue engineering for scientists, but researchers have now used a 3-D bioprinter to make a fiber template to serve as a mold for the vessels, according to Science Daily.

In the future, 3-D printing technology could be used to develop transplantable tissues customized to each patient’s needs, according to the report.
