Will Darter, an award-winning superintendent in Everton, is passionate about elevating rural schools. He described them as the “center of stability, hope and connection.”
Author of “The Empowered Rural Education Leader,” Darter uses writing and his podcast to highlight the complexities and impact of working in small towns. His goal is to lift up rural teachers and principals so they can thrive.
“I have led a small, rural district through financial leadership, staffing challenges and long-term strategic planning by prioritizing transparency, trust and community partnerships,” he says.
Arguing leadership is about “showing up,” Darter, 38, is visible outside of the school. He coaches youth sports and teaches children’s church.
